The solar industry is urging Tony Abbott to say whether he supports the renewable energy target, warning 1200 jobs in the State are at risk if it is scrapped or downgraded.
The Australian Solar Council has written to the Prime Minister urging him to commit to retaining the RET in its current form ahead of the WA Senate election.
The council is concerned about the silence from the Government after it announced a review of the RET a month ago. Under the target, 20 per cent of power generated in Australia is meant to come from renewable sources by 2020.
